112 BAREDINE TRAIL
Start and end of this tour is in front of the Baredine cave, geomorphological monument of nature. This cave is a true treasure chest of stalactites, stalagmites and many other naturally sculpted works of art, it is also known as the home of the endemic fish Proteus. In the complex surrounding the cave you can also visit the unique Tractor museum or the restaurant, which offers good homemade food. The trail passes through vast vineyards surrounded by thick forests. It is quite common to see some of the forest’s creatures like roe deer, rabbits or foxes along the bike trail. At its far western point the tour joins the famous Parenzana trail, former narrow-gauge railway, which it follows until the village Nova Vas. Here the tour turns back to Baredine.
