Exhibition: Mia Kešelj - Traces of the Sea and Time
Festival News 01.08.2024 - 31.08.2024The Belgrade artist Mia Kešelj will present acrylics on canvas to the audience, painted by the artist over the past two years in Poreč.
"Her paintings represent an exploration of the transience of time through the lens of natural elements, using rich textures and layers of colors. In this context, artists are like antennas that receive external impulses through the beauty of nature – sea landscapes, rustic stone houses of Istria, and the red Istrian soil – and intuitively incorporate these elements into their paintings through their authentic handwriting.
In Mia's artistic oeuvre, one can see the exploratory passion and energy, as well as an introspective approach, rather than direct influences and models, which has significantly influenced the development and affirmation of her poetics. Starting from the personal and aiming for a universal artistic language in her artistic journey, the artist bravely conquers artistic freedoms. Her poetics is of an abstract orientation with hints of associative expression that refer to reality as a starting point." (Ljubica Kešelj, art historian)
